Frequently Asked Questions
Inner Vision Counseling
What will counseling do for me?
Counseling/psychotherapy has been found
to be an effective means for creating meaningful and lasting change
in your life. Professional counselors are trained in helping people
to achieve more satisfaction and improved functioning in needed areas
in their lives as well as to deal with mental illness. At Inner Vision
Counseling the focus is on facilitating goals and change where the client
chooses in order to increase their effectiveness and enjoyment in life.
Counseling/psychotherapy is not just for people suffering from serious
mental illnesses or personality disorders. It is also about living a
better more enjoyable life through understanding accepting and loving
yourself and sometimes making changes in order to live more fully.
How long will counseling take?
All people are unique and their situations are
different. Occasionally,
a client will come in with a simple issue requiring only 1 to 3 sessions
in order for positive change to happen. Many people need a bit longer
and some might require long term counseling for progress to be made
and lasting change to occur. Most people who work hard both in and out
of sessions progress enough for lasting change to enjoy and continue
building upon by themselves within 6 to 10 sessions.
What if I'm not sure about counseling?
If at any time you feel that counseling is not going in the
right direction to meet your needs please let your counselor know this.
Many times it can be a turning point in your therapy. Counseling should
meet your needs! If you believe that your counselor might not
be the right one for you, discuss this with them then ask for a referral
if you believe that it is necessary. They should refer you to another
qualified therapist that may suit your needs better.
How much will it cost?
A 50 minute session will cost $80.00. Payment in full is expected
at the time of service. Cash, personal checks,Mastercard and Visa are
all acceptable forms of payment.
Do you take insurance?
Y ou may submit these charges to your health insurance company yourself
as "out of network" for reimbursement according to the agreement
you have with your insurance company. Some cover a portion of mental
health counseling and some do not. I give everyone 2 copies of their
receipt or "superbill" at each appointment. This should be
all you need if you choose to submit it. As an "out of network"provider
I will have no contact with your insurance company and you will easily
know exactly what information they have about your mental health. Be
informed that health insurance companys will not cover counseling unless
you have been given a mental health diagnosis. Relationship counseling
and couples counseling are not covered by insurance unless at least
one partner is diagnosed with a mental health disorder. This information
is important to know. because insurance companys keep this information
permanently and it will be disclosed to future insurance companys if
you ever switch. For these reasons, many people opt not to use their
insurance. If you do choose to use a counselor or agency who is an "in
network" provider, that you do have the right to know what diagnosis
you have been given.
What about confidentiality?
Any communication with your counselor is protected by both State and
Federal Laws as well as by the Counselor Code of Ethics. Certain exceptions
do exist however, involving abuse or neglect of children or elders,
and protection from homicidal or suicidal behaviors. *Check out the
confidentiality link on this website for full information. Confidentiality
is very important and we will discuss this at your first appointment
as well as any other time you feel it is necessary.
How do I make an appointment?
The easiest way to make your appointment is to call the office
at (614)659-1544. Please keep in mind that you will likely get the answering
machine. Please provide your name and a phone number where you can be
reached and a message as needed. I will make every effort to reach you
as soon as possible. If you would prefer to e-mail first with questions,
the email link is at the bottom of this and all pages on the website.
