F.A.Q.

What will counseling do for me?
Counseling/psychotherapy has been found to be an effective way to create meaningful and lasting change in your life. Professional counselors are trained in helping people to achieve more satisfaction and improved functioning in needed areas in their lives as well as dealing with mental illness.  At Inner Vision Counseling the focus is on facilitating goals and change where the client chooses in order to increase their effectiveness and enjoyment in life. Counseling/psychotherapy is not just for people suffering from serious mental illnesses or personality disorders. It is also about living a fuller more enjoyable life through understanding accepting and loving yourself.

How long will counseling take?
All people are unique and their situations are different. Occasionally, a client will come in with a simple issue requiring only 1 to 3 sessions in order for positive change to happen. Many people need a bit longer and some might require long term counseling for progress to be made and lasting change to occur. Most people who work hard both in and out of sessions progress enough for lasting change to enjoy and continue building upon by themselves within 6 to 10 sessions.

What if I’m not sure about counseling?
If at any time you feel that counseling is not going in the right direction to meet your needs please let your counselor know this. Many times it can be a turning point in your therapy. Counseling should meet your needs! If you believe that your counselor might not be the right one for you, discuss this with them then ask for a referral if you believe that it is necessary. They should refer you to another qualified therapist that may suit your needs better.

How much will it cost?
A 50 minute session will cost $90.00. Payment in full is expected at the time of service. Cash, personal checks,Mastercard and Visa are all acceptable forms of payment.

Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance, however, you may opt to submit your counseling fees to your health insurance company yourself as “out of network” for possible partial reimbursement. In order to do this, insurance companies require a superbill. I will give you 2 copies of the superbill as your receipt at each appointment. This should be all you need.  It’s a good idea to call your insurance company to find out how much coverage you have for counseling needs.

What about confidentiality?
Any communication with your counselor is protected by both State and Federal Laws as well as by the Counselor Code of Ethics. Certain exceptions do exist however, involving abuse or neglect of children or elders, and protection from homicidal or suicidal behaviors. *Check out the confidentiality link on this website for full information. Confidentiality is very important and we will discuss this at your first appointment as well as any other time it is necessary.

How do I make an appointment?
The easiest way to make your appointment is to call the office at (614)659-1544. Please keep in mind that you will likely get the answering machine. Please provide your name and a phone number where you can be reached and a message as needed. I will make every effort to reach you as soon as possible. If you would prefer to e-mail first with questions, the email link is at the top of this and all pages on the website.

How long is the wait before I can get in for my first appointment?
